Friday off the respirator on trach mask
Today they tried Ryan with the trach mask and turned the respirator off (which means Ryan is taking all his breaths on his own). He is moving the right leg more bending it up a little bit. His eyes were not open that much today. They stopped his sedation and pain medication. They also stopped the anitbiotic as the most recent culture showed the old bacteria is not there. They started his jtube feedings with just a very small amount of nourishment. We will see how that goes. The doctors still anticipate this to be a very slow recovery before he could get back to neuro rehab. At least there are small steps in the right direction.
