Out of Surgery again now in Surgical ICU

Ryan is out of surgery. They did not remove the shunt yet. They tested the CSF and they did not find any infection. They took the shunt drain out of his abdomen and realized it is draining well. So they left this sticking out of his abdomen and it is draining into a bag. They feel that his abdomen is too swollen and irritated to absorb any of the CSF. Until his abdomen heals this will have to drain out of him. Once his abdomen heals, they will have to go in and put a new shunt into his head and put a new drain into his abdomen. So we have more surgeries to go. Tomorrow they will repeat the CT scan to see if his ventricles have gone down since the previous scan which will show that the draining is working. More stress and waiting.
