Ok- We just met with the Doctor - again - some better news at least...but they do not want too many visitors as the #1 way ICU patients get sicker is from germs from visitors. so as much as we want Ryan to have visitors please contact us first. It is essential that we keep any germs away from Ryan as he is so sick and susceptible to everything right now. However, today we had slightly better news after Ryan's tap this morning.
Basically, they could not get much fluid out. Some of the fluid was thick and pussy but they do not think he is infected so that is good. We had a doctor explain that the fluid is coming from his inflamed peritoneum. Ryan's severe peritinitis is sort of like a skin sun blister. When it is inflamed it swells and leaks fluid (white blood cells etc.) so that is where the fluid is coming from. His peritoneum is so swollen that it is leaking a lot of fluid. Until that goes down he will continue to fight through the fluids. However, they still cannot control it and they don't know how long it will last. We need to try to be patient but at least we are slightly more hopeful. Oh- they also think some of the fever may have been from some of the antibiotics.
Ok- sorry to put everyone through the roller coaster. He has a ways to go if he can keep fighting.
PS- Ryan seems a little more responsive as well. His eyes are open more.. agh

Thanks, Cerissa... I can't even imagine what kind of ride you guys are on right now. I still believe in Ryan and know that he can get through this. Please don't lose that faith and lean on any and all of us when it starts to fade! We love you guys!

ReplyDeleteOh My God, we are all on our knees when it comes to Ryan and hope. Cerissa you are an amazing sister, daughter, and friend to all of us that pray for Ryan. It must be hard to write, but for every letter you put down a multitude of prayers are sent.

Im so glad to hear better news, its a horrible roller coaster but Ryan is still trying to fight and remain strong which is the most important thing! I hope this is then end of his battles and he can get some rest and renewed strength to keep fighting! Sending all my love, strength, and support to all of you!!
